A modern-day tale of fortune-telling in the world of West Texas oil rigs. A landowner, at least one who works in the oil industry, acts as a middleman between exploration companies and landowners. Typically, a landowner’s job is to negotiate and finalize agreements with landowners who hold mineral rights to lease those rights to the company he or she represents. Essentially, they control the land and secure leases so they can drill for oil and gas. Like a foreman on a construction site, they build roads, man-camps, supervise the assembly of mining machinery, and oversee the drilling of a mine, especially in remote locations. They are also fixers, troubleshooters, and facilitators. Featured in CBS News Sunday Morning: Episode 44.24 (2022). This could have easily been rated an 8.5-9. If it weren’t for the shy and overly sexualized daughter and daughter, it could have been rated an 8.5-9. The ex-wife/mother are useless and totally annoying and offensive to the women of West Texas. I kind of understand where Sheridan is coming from, but this is terrible. The women of West Texas are some of the strongest, most ambitious women I know. Plus, the writing and acting are great. Sheridan could easily have another Yellowstone on her hands if she could get rid of a very nasty inter-family rivalry. But again, love me some writing (and acting) from Sheridan, and definitely a very enjoyable show for the most part.
